After a years-long investigation, helped by new fingerprint analysis and an impaired driving charge, police have charged a man with arson.
Twenty-one-year-old Andrew Straub is suspected to have played a role in a rash of deliberately set fires in 2008.
Det. Scott Sampson tells The Calgary Sun, police were lucky to get a fingerprint from a beer bottle found after a Molotov cocktail was tossed into a parked van.
Police had no match until they got Straub’s fingerprints when he was charged with drunk driving.
They used a new fingerprint analysis machine to charge the suspect.
