Former Calgary mayor is headed to Washington!

Just over a year after walking away from City Hall, former Calgary mayor Dave Bronconnier is Alberta’s new representative in D.C.
Premier Alison Redford made it official today.
When prodded about appointing a one-time federal Liberal candidate to represent Alberta’s interest in the U.S., the Tory premier says she’s not looking at the past but looking toward the future.
“We’re seeing a group of people that have tremendous talent and experience that can be part of building this province and I’ll tell you that if I’d stood up here and announced today that the person who’s going to Washington was someone who was a stalwart member of the Progressive Conservative Party, there’d probably be just as much commentary about that,” says Redford.
Bronconnier starts his nine month term in Washington next week.
At the top of his agenda is to pitch the Keystone XL Pipeline Project as a win-win fo the U.S. and for Alberta.
He takes the role on a temporary basis, replacing Gary Mar who left the post to run for the PC leadership.
