Protesters complain about bylaw tickets

Occupy Calgary protesters claim they’re the butt of a bylaw crackdown.
One man tells the Calgary Herald he was hit with a $500 fine for stamping out a cigarette on Olympic Plaza.
The city has said it would eventually ticket and warn protesters and then confiscate their gear, which has been on the Plaza for more than three weeks.
The demonstrators say they’ve been consulting with lawyers and will appeal the fines.
Bill Bruce, Director of bylaw services with the City of Calgary, tells 660News it’s simple, if they don’t want a ticket then they shouldn’t break the law.
He says they’re continuing to enforce all normal bylaws with the exception of the one that bars protesters from camping in the park.
The mayor has not yet offered a time line for eviction.
