The city’s largest family emergency shelter has been at capacity since the summer.
Staff at Inn From the Cold say now that the first real taste of winter is here, they’re concerned about how they’re going to find the resources to keep up with demand as more and more less fortunate come to them for help.
Executive Director Yvett Rasmussen tells 660News on Friday, donations are down and so are the number of people offering to help.
“We’re asking for volunteers. Volunteers are always the heart and soul of the Inn and with our community inns, we require 30 volunteers in the evening to host those inns which we’ve been relying on for our over-capacity families,” says Rasmussen.
She adds, Inn From the Cold has just launched its second campaign, Littlest Things and adds they’re hoping to raise awareness about the lack of affordable housing in the two to three bedroom range.
