Hockey fans rejoice! Sidney Crosby is back in the Pittsburgh Penguins lineup!
The team made the announcement Sunday afternoon that Crosby would make his debut against the New York Islanders Monday night.
It will be Crosby’s first game in nearly a year, since being sidelined with a concussion in January.
A owner of a Pittsburgh sports bar Jeff Butya tells 660News, the All Star Sports Bar and Grill broke out into a round of applause when the news was announced.
“When they hear about Sidney, I mean it’s just awesome! Everyone gets excited, there’ll be more people in watching the hockey game…people will go and buy shirts right before Christmas. The Penguins are just as hot as the Steelers here in Pittsburgh.”
Butya, a former player for Penn State, says Crosby’s return was finally some good news for the city that’s been in the spotlight with the recent child sexual abuse scandal.
Crosby declined repeated interview requests in recent weeks as the speculation about a possible return date reached a fever pitch.
