A lot of us would love to give someone a puppy or kitten for Christmas.
It always looks so good in the movies but unless you really know what you’re doing, it may not have a happy ending.
Joanne Hahn with Calgary Animal Services tells 660News that puppy or kitten may end up in an animal shelter instead if the recipient isn’t ready for it.
“Instead of surprising somebody, come into Animal Services, get a gift certificate from us. It can be for any denomination. It will not expire. Then when the person has made those important decisions they can come in and choose their own pet,” says Hahn.
The certificates can be put toward adopting a pet, along with licensing or vet costs.
You can get them at both Calgary Animal Services and the Calgary Humane Society and other shelters may also offer them.
Christy Thompson with the Calgary Humane Society tells 660News, they have gift cards you can load for any amount and they come with a stuffed animal.
