Parks Canada plans to shut down a stretch of the Bow Valley Parkway at night, during the spring months, to help protect wildlife.
The first closure isn’t planned until 2013 when officials will close 17 kilometres of the roadway’s east end from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.
The measure will run from March 1st to June 25th.
A Banff park official tells the Calgary Sun, springtime is crucial for species like wolves and grizzlies which den and forage in the area.
