Aldermen react to Mayor’s fight with the Premier

The war of words between Calgary’s mayor and the province’s Premier has divided the city’s aldermen.
At a recent stop in Calgary, Premier Alison Redford says the city’s six per cent tax hike isn’t fiscally conservative.
Mayor Nenshi called the comment a, “total drive by”.
Ward 10’s, Andre Chabot tells the Calgary Sun that Mayor Nenshi was wrong to retaliate against the premier, saying, “…it isn’t doing anyone any good”.
He added the Mayor should have laid out his concerns to the premier before going public.
Chabot is opposed to the city’s six percent tax hike and said that Premier Redford is not far off questioning Calgary’s fiscal discipline.
Alderman Dale Hodges on the other hand sided with the Mayor saying an adversarial relationship is inevitable.
Alderman Ray Jones says the city and the province are bound to be at odds when Calgary controls only 8 percent of revenue picked up from taxpayers.
Jones adds the province has a bigger spending problem than the city.
