A British Columbia couple rang in the New Year a million dollars richer thanks to a lottery ticket purchased right here in our city.
Penny and Joseph Huszti received a package in the mail from Joseph’s mom for Christmas who lives in Calgary.
Inside was a gift and a Player’s Choice Mega-Pack with 10 scratch and win tickets purchased at a Shopper’s Drug Mart in Forest Lawn.
Penny says she scratched the ticket on New Year’s Eve and the winner was the first one in the pack.
The new millionaires had to pace around the next few days until the Western Canada Lottery Corporation office opened after New Year’s to verify they had won.
The couple say they plan to use the money to purchase a new home, get a new car and send Joseph’s mom on a long awaited trip to Hungary to visit family.
