Redcliff says it broke election law

A town just north of Medicine Hat says it broke election laws governing public agency donations to political parties.
Redcliff did an internal investigation after Elections Alberta requested municipalities review older records to see if any of their officials attended PC Party functions on the government’s dime.
Town manager David Wolanski said Tuesday that a number of councillors paid just over 200 dollars each to attend a dinner by former Premier Ed Stelmach in 2007 and then submitted receipts for money back from the town.
Beginning in 2004, publicly funded bodies like school boards and municipalities are not allowed to give to political parties.
