Another death linked to PMMA as CPS lay ecstasy trafficking charges

A young man and woman have been charged with trafficking ecstasy that contains PMMA as Calgary police confirm an eighth death related to the drug.
Investigators seized a total of 823.4 grams of powdered ecstasy, including four capsules, with a street value of approximately $16,460. A collapsible baton, two knives and cash were also seized.
Police searched two homes in the northwest as well as two vehicles.
19-year-old Joshua Bradly Cook is charged with 23 offences including nine counts of trafficking ecstasy.
19-year-old Elizabeth Thomas is charged with three counts of trafficking ecstasy and one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking ecstasy.
Police also have confirmed, a 37-year-old man found dead in his northeast home in January died after taking ecstasy with PMMA in it. That death brings the number of ecstasy related deaths in Calgary up to eight.
