Teacher contract negotiations have broken down and probably won’t fire up again until after the provincial election.
Education minister Thomas Lukaszuk says the Alberta Teachers’ Association, the Provincial Government and The Alberta School Boards Association can’t make a deal.
They’re trying to work out the basis for the next series of teachers’ contracts but they can’t agree on a number of things including teaching time.
If they can’t come to an agreement, school boards can negotiate locally with their teachers before contracts expire in August.
