Alberta to lead Canada in economic growth

Alberta will once again lead Canada in economic growth.

The Conference Board of Canada is out with its Provincial Outlook-Winter 2012 which reports our province will grow by just over three per cent this year and four per cent next year.

“The recent economic slowdown is barely noticeable in Western Canada,” said Marie-Christine Bernard, Associate Director of Provincial Outlook. “Despite concerns over global growth and the lasting fiscal problems in Europe, growth in the Western Canadian provinces is expected to be a full percentage point stronger than the rest of the country this year and next.”

She credits our energy sector and job creation as a leading factor.

Saskatchewan is second in predicted growth followed by Manitoba.
