2011 Royal visit leaves lasting impression on new Alberta parents

The royal visit to Alberta last year had more of an impact than just benefiting our economy and showcasing some of our province’s beautiful landscape.

The visit appears to have left a lasting impression with some of Alberta’s newest parents.

The province is out with a list of the top baby names from 2011 and there’s been a significant jump for the names Will and Kate.

The name Kate leaped from the 79th place to 64th in top baby names for girls last year, while the name William inched up two spots from 11th to 9th for boys compared to 2010.

Now get this! Last year in Alberta eight boys were named Prince, six girls were named Princess, and one boy was named Princewill.

Other unusual names include Feather, Juniper, Winter and Acaia.

The most popular name for boys in 2011 was Liam. For the girls it was Olivia.
