City’s first Poet Laureate

For the first time in the city’s history, Calgary has a Poet Laureate.
Singer-songwriter and self-described “art slut,” Kris Demeanor will help Calgary usher in its honorary status as cultural capital of 2012.
He commissioned a poem for Monday’s occasion, called Waves.
He tells 660News he looks at all sorts of pieces in our city to draw inspiration from.
