The province says it has reached a tentative contract deal with the province’s doctors.
The proposed agreement is for a 2.5 per cent increase to physician fees this year and another 2.5 per cent retroactive to April 2011.
The deal provides a total of $181-million in new compensation.
It also allows the Alberta Medical Association and Alberta Health Services to give input into the government’s health policy.
Limited arbitration with respect to doctors’ fees for insured services is also part of the proposal.
