Four hours to take down southeast Calgary grassfire

It took about four hours, but the large grass fire on the southeast outskirts of Calgary towards Chestermere has been knocked down.
Crews from Calgary, Rockyview and Chestermere worked together to battle the flames east of 84th Street S.E. and south of 17th Avenue, as they stopped it at 116th Street.
Battalion Chief Don Huska said the fire did more than just burn down an abandoned house and two grain silos.
“One firefighter was injured on scene battling the fire and is in the care of EMS,” he said.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
