CPS in violation of privacy

Alberta’s Privacy Commissioner says the Calgary Police Service violated a former employee’s privacy by accessing her personal non-work email while investigating her for sexual misconduct on the job.

The commissioner says an IT manager began accessing the woman’s work email and then found the password and login to her personal email account.

The manager found several photo’s of a sexual nature in that personal account that appeared to have been taken at work and were used to fire the woman from her job at CPS.

The woman was a civilian employee with CPS at the time.
