Massage parlours may be on the move

The city is considering a new bylaw that would force unregistered massage parlours out of residential neighbourhoods in an effort to minimize shady operations.
A council committee debated a proposal Wednesday to create a separate license for registered therapists to keep unregistered masseuses out of neighbourhoods.
The Calgary Herald reports each year, the city undertakes 40 licensing hearings in dealing with complaints about suspected bawdy houses masked as massage parlours.
If the proposal is approved in council, a new bylaw will be drafted by December.
