Level 3 fire ban in Rocky View County

The dry, windy weather has forced Rocky View County to issue a level three fire ban.
Further to that, residents are being asked to cut any high grass or shrubs near their property.
“Due to the latest information related to low humidity and high temperatures, a level three ban is now essential,” said Ken McMullen, Rocky View County Fire Services Chief. “We ask residents to cut all high, dry grass and shrubs near their homes and accessory buildings as a safety precaution, as the conditions are prime for igniting and spreading fire.”
The level three ban means an extreme fire risk and is in effect until further notice.
The ban includes:
– incinerators (for farm and acreage use)
– regulated burning barrels
– camp stoves
– solid fuel barbecues (charcoal briquettes)
– recreational camp fires (approved burn pit 24″ in diameter or less)
– chimneys
– fires contained within approved facilities and appliances in designated camping and recreational areas
