Canucks player chastised for controversial bear baiting

Vancouver Canucks forward David Booth is facing fierce criticism after filming a television segment featuring him baiting a black bear with food, and then shooting it in the side with an arrow.

Bear baiting is legal in Alberta where the Edge TV segment was filmed, but illegal in 18 U.S. states and in B.C.

The controversy is getting major play online, where even Canucks fans are chastising the 27-year-old Michigan native for glorifying the killing.

Vancouver’s Humane Society has also come out against the hockey player, telling The Calgary Sun his actions are “appalling.”
