Long weekend trip close to home

It’s the May long weekend, which could mean a trip out of the city.
There is an area, not too far from Calgary, that has a perfect view of the Elbow Falls and unique shop to keep a deal finder occupied.
Start heading south down Hwy 66 towards Bragg Creek; along the way, stop for a scenic view of the Elbow river.
Once in the hamlet, head out for a nice hike through the forest and along the river bank for about 1.5 km along the Centennial Trail. The trail begins at the east end of the first parking lot and connects to a paved sidewalk across from the original Trading Post.
Stroll along the sidewalk of White Avenue, past homes, restaurants and shops. Browse the malls and wind up your walk on the Balsam Avenue Bridge across the Elbow River.
Bragg Creek Provincial Park offers up picnic tables, toilets, play areas and fire-pits to BBQ a lunch. Enjoy the scenery and fish in Allen Bill Pond.
Get back on Hwy 66 towards Elbow falls to continue the adventure, as the gate across the highway is now open and a lucky person may even see some mountain sheep with their new offspring.
