Over 5,000 tickets handed out over long weekend

Provincial law enforcement officers were very busy over the Victoria Day long weekend.

Officers issued 5,711 tickets for offences ranging from poaching to speeding.

58 tickets were dished out for impaired driving, 3,901 for speeding and 42 for distracted driving.

In an effort to ensure road safety, officers conducted both check stops and off-highway vehicle compliance checks Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
