Clogged court threatens delay in murder case

It could be July of next year before the preliminary inquiry for an Okotoks man charged in connection with the stabbing death of his girlfriend is heard before a court.

Unless, that is, counsel receives permission to hold the hearing in Calgary, because of a backlog in Okotoks.

Carlos Pelaez, 28, is facing a first degree murder charge in the April 2012 death of his girlfriend.

The defense counsel tells The Calgary Sun the Okotoks problem isn’t limited to this case alone.
