MLA would welcome oilsands dollars for Highway 63

Alberta’s transportation minister is encouraging oilsands companies to chip-in to improve the so-called “highway of death.”
Ric McIver says he would welcome oilsands funding to twin Highway 63 between Edmonton and Fort McMurray.
The declaration comes a day after a Calgary Sun poll showed 53 per cent of Albertans believe oilsands companies should help foot the bill.
McIver says $450-million has been budgeted to twin 100 kilometres of Highway 63 within three years with the remaining portion to cost about $500-million.
A telephone town hall is being held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday to gather input from the public about the stretch of road.
