Local immigrants unfamiliar with the Calgary Stampede are invited to a two-hour networking session Thursday night which will also expose them to job opportunities.
On the agenda is a walk-through of the 100-year history of the event, while corporate mentors will be on hand to direct newcomers to where labour demand is highest.
The executive director of the Calgary Region Immigrant Employment Council, Bruce Randall, tells The Calgary Sun it’s all about making people comfortable with a cultural staple of the city so pursuing a career here is easier.
The event starts at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Clubhouse at the Stampede Grandstand.
