A Calgary Alderman is looking to fish-out shark fin soup from menus in city restaurants.
Port Moody, B.C., and the state of California have already banned the Chinese delicacy based on how shark fins are harvested; they are cut off the shark before the animal is tossed back in the ocean.
Brian Pincott calls it a brutal and horrible practice.
An anti-fin website indicates four Calgary restaurants serve the dish.
Pincott tells The Calgary Herald he feels council will pass the motion to ban the soup on Monday.
