Free e‑scooter, e‑bike connections starting at select CTrain stations

Calgarians can now take free e-scooter or e-bike trips to and from some Calgary CTrain stations.

Calgary transit riders are again getting the option for a free trip on the first and last legs of their commute.

Starting on Friday, the city will offer 10 minutes of free shared e‑scooter and e‑bike travel at eight LRT stations under new five‑year permits from companies Bird Canada and Neuron.

The initiative builds on a 2023 pilot where 70 per cent of participants said the service increased their transit use, according to the city.

Under the new program, riders can unlock a scooter or bike through each company’s app and automatically receive 10 free minutes when starting or ending a trip at a designated LRT station. After the free period, the standard per‑minute fees resume.

The select stations include:

  • Bird Canada stations — Heritage, Southland, 45th Street, Crowfoot
  • Neuron stations — Barlow/Max Bell, Franklin, Rundle, Saddletowne

To keep sidewalks clear, the city and operators have installed dedicated parking zones at each station. Riders must end their trips within the zones, and companies will review end‑of‑trip photos to ensure scooters and bikes aren’t blocking walkways, ramps, or transit access points.
