Eyes could be on all taxi passengers as early as next summer, as city officials propose security cameras in all city cabs.
Cameras are already in every Associated Cab and in about 70 per cent of Checker’s fleet, but the move would make it mandatory across the board.
According to The Calgary Herald, city regulators praise the idea which would make it easier to prove wrongdoing by drivers or riders.
The city will also discuss an ongoing Calgary Transit review to consider adding further late-night service, which is currently available only during Stampede.
