Albertans not paying federal fines

Despite being the wealthiest province in the country, Alberta has a lot of deadbeats; of the $129-million owed to the government, Albertans owe about $26-million.
More than 4,100 people in the province are on the hook for fines including criminal court penalties such as driving, drugs and weapons offences; 59 of those individuals have fines over $10,000.
To put that in perspective, Quebec has about 3,100 people owing cash. In the worst cases, individuals can be jailed for refusing to pay outstanding fines.
