Flight diverted to Edmonton after unruly passenger assaults crew member

An Air Canada flight to Calgary from London, England, had to be diverted to Edmonton Monday afternoon after an unruly passenger caused a disturbance.
It’s alleged a drunk man on board the plane assaulted a female crew member and another passenger, causing minor damage to the plane along the way.
RCMP Staff Sergeant Shawn Lemay said officers made the unusual arrest yesterday afternoon.
“We don’t hear about these things a lot right, diverted aircrafts that land,” Lemay said.
“In policing we see it, but when your behaviour is such that it forces an aircraft to make an unscheduled stop it’s certainly quite serious,” he added.
The 35-year-old Calgary man is facing several charges and will appear in court Tuesday.
