Calgary driver makes return for Monster Jam

The world’s best monster trucks will battle it out in our city Saturday for the Maple Leaf Monster Jam Tour.

This year’s truck line-up includes Calgary driver Cam McQueen, who’s happy to return to our city for the first time in two years.

“I’m pretty excited to get down here and tear up the Stampede Grounds. We built an all new truck last year called Northern Nightmare that I’ll be driving. I am a Canadian which is fairly rare on our circuit,” says McQueen. “I was actually born right here in Calgary so I guess this is my hometown show.”

McQueen says if you’ve never seen Monster Jam, it’s guaranteed to be the best family entertainment money can buy.

“These huge 10,000 pound, 1,500 horsepower monster trucks with tires that are almost six feet tall are out there putting on this performance with lights and music. There’s characters involved as well. Some of these trucks are themed after superheroes and cartoon characters and even puppy dogs.”

The legendary “Grave Digger” monster truck will be part of the fleet ripping up the dirt at the Stampede Grandstand at 2:00p.m. and again at 7:00p.m. Saturday.

There’s also a pit-party event to kick off the event at 11:00a.m., which gives fans a chance to meet and greet their favourite drivers.
