Controversy is stirring after a veteran Calgary fire captain was reinstated to a job he lost for making derogatory comments toward women.
An investigation was launched in March 2011 after Captain Chuck Hendricks used obscene slang to refer to his female co-workers.
Hendricks lost his job but was re-hired after he wrote a long apology letter.
Officials with the Calgary Fire Department tell The Calgary Sun they defend the decision, saying they do not tolerate harassment of any form but they believe the outcome was fair.
Hendricks has since retired with full pension.
