With another work stoppage looming in the National Hockey League, a Calgary eye surgeon has teamed up with Juno nominated singer Raghav to create “The Lockout Song”.
Arun Lakra decided to write the single to the tune of Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours”.
Lakra, a father of two is like many hockey fans, frustrated about the thought of no NHL hockey, so he decided to express his feeling with a song.
“What can I do to express my frustration because nobody really cares what I think. The owners and players, I don’t really see eye to eye with either of them and I think it’s the fans that suffer,” Lakra says.
The song also pokes fun at Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby’s concussion issues, Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane’s incident with a cab driver and Lakra calls Boston Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas a wingnut, likely for his bizarre political behaviour.
