Newcomers feel welcome in Canada: HSBC study

It turns out we’re welcoming of newcomers.
A new study done by HSBC Canada shows that 82 per cent of new immigrants reveal they felt a warm reception on arrival here.
Steve Tutty, senior vice-president of wealth management services for HSBC tells 660News, how Calgary fared in the survey:
“The welcome was well above the average in Calgary. Your city scored as the second most welcoming city in Canada as 84% of respondents said Calgarians were very warm to newcomers.”
The survey polled over 600 new immigrants, which did have some surprising findings for Steve Tutty:
“We have a pretty established banking and financial market here in Canada. We found people that are landing here are finding it difficult to navigate through their investments options, which was surprising as being rated pretty high among newcomers,” said Tutty.
Tutty reveals the biggest reasons for these people re-locating:
“Natural beauty ranked up there pretty high with 73% of respondents saying Canada is a beautiful country with a great environment, but the biggest overall reason was the quality of life at 78%,” said Tutty.
Finding employment, missing family and making friends were the top three difficulties faced by newcomers.
