The family of a woman raped and murdered by a man, now locked up in a Saskatchewan prison, say they have no sympathy for him.
Convicted killer Harvey Andres is one of five inmates suing the federal government complaining about conditions inside the prison.
Darlene Richtik, whose 17-year-old daughter Shirley Ann Johnston was killed in 1982 when Andres set fire to their Penbrooke home, says as far as she’s concerned the conditions are a lot better than he deserves.
Andres and four others want $50,000 in damages, saying there’s a lack of library and barber services, and that they are suffering from sunlight and sleep deprivation.
The Calgary Sun reports a federal judge has given the inmates six months to rework their claim, at which time it will be reconsidered.
