Kitchen safety tips for Christmas day

Calgary EMS is wishing Calgarians for a safe Christmas, and providing some tips to help make that happen.
Spokesperson Adam Loria says you always have to be mindful of children running around while you’re preparing your big feast.
He says when using the stove, make sure to use the back burners so kids can’t reach up and touch the hot burners.
When cooking with pots and pans, turn the handles towards the back of the stove as that will prevent kids from grabbing and pulling them down.
Loria also says kids should be banned from the kitchen when the oven is in use to ensure they don’t lean against it or open the door and burn themselves.
He points out you can also pick up oven door locks from your local hardware store as a safety measure.
