Trudeau addresses energy strategy while in Calgary

Liberal leadership hopeful Justin Trudeau says he’s not opposed to the idea of pipelines, he just wants more conversation generated on the subject.

During his talk in Calgary Monday night, he also said Alberta’s premier is on the right track when it comes to developing a Canadian energy strategy that would involve all provinces co-operating with one another.

Trudeau says the federal government needs to get more involved in energy issues.

“The first thing is to convene a meeting of all provincial premiers to talk about energy in this country and where we’re going in the next years and where we’re going in the next decade,” he says.  “The fact that hasn’t happened, to me, is a complete absconding of responsibilities.”

Trudeau says he wants to see more concrete proposals before any pipeline project goes forward.
