Clocks spring forward Sunday morning

It’s that time of year again!

It’s best to set your clock ahead one hour before you go to bed Saturday night. We switch to Daylight saving time at 2 a.m. on Sunday, meaning we lose an hour of sleep.

Car crashes increase by 8% after the spring time change. Nutritionist Ashley Koff says you should stay away from coffee as a means to adjust. “Energy comes from food it comes from a nutrient balance of carbohydrate, protein and healthy fats.” Koff says.

A healthy breakfast could consist of waffles and peanut butter to give you an extra boost of energy.

Kids find the change hard too, Dr. Shelly Weiss, a pediatric sleep expert, says youngsters can be thrown off for as much as a week.

This is also the weekend you are being reminded to change the batteries in your smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector.

Daylight saving time ends November 3, 2013.
