Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield now has the top job in space.
He has officially taken command of the International Space Station.
The transfer of command to Hadfield, which happened at 5:10 p.m. Eastern, also marks the start of what’s officially been designated “Expedition 35” as he is the 35th commander of the I-S-S.
Earlier in the day, Hadfield was sent congratulatory messages from Prime Minister Harper, who has called his space career “stellar” and also from the Queen.
