The annual Calgary Stampede chuckwagon canvas auction is approaching.
This year’s auction takes place Thursday, March 21 at Stampede Park.
Organizers say they don’t anticipate as much success as last year when the Stampede was celebrating its centennial, but things are still looking positive.
Calgary Chamber of Commerce chief economist Ben Brunnen tells The Calgary Herald, the sale is a tip off for how the economy is doing.
If the auction brings in a significant dollar amount, it may indicate more companies are looking to expand and advertise more widely.
