CPS eye digital face recognition tool

The Calgary Police Service is experimenting with new tech tools to help it nab criminals.

Cops are currently researching facial recognition technology that can match suspects with digital video evidence, and Facebook photos.

Staff Sgt. Brian Rayner tells The Calgary Sun, they want to determine how the software can be used and what the cost of the upgrade might be.

Calgary Cops would be the first in the country to have the ability to search for subjects by face.

Rayner says the technology has had success with the NYPD, and the FBI.
