Stations of the Cross March in Calgary

Thousands are expected to come out for the annual Good Friday Stations of the Cross March in Calgary Friday.

The march is a somber event intended for people to reflect on the meaning of Jesus’ suffering.

This year, the event will begin and end at St. Mary’s Cathedral on 18th Avenue southwest.

It kicks-off at 9:30 a.m. and is organized by the Catholic diocese, but everyone is welcome.

The practice comes from the belief that Jesus’ mother, Mary, would visit places of her son’s suffering and death.
