Alberta Health Services is issuing advice to flood victims returning to their homes or communities.
They are warning people floodwaters can carry disease and bacteria, and to take necessary safety precautions.
They are issuing a reminder not to use gas-powered pumps or electric pumps indoors, as they can lead to deadly carbon monoxide poison or electrocution.
Officials say make sure to wear proper safety gear like water and puncture proof boots and rubber gloves when cleaning up.
Homes built before the mid-1980’s may also have asbestos, and they are urging homeowners to educate themselves on asbestos removal.
