Ahead of an expected decision from the White House on the much delayed Keystone XL pipeline project, the American Petroleum Institute is launching a new campaign.
Television, print and online ads are going to be placed in several states in August, in the hopes of getting the massive energy project, which would ship oilsands crude to the U.S. gulf coast, approved.
The API’s Cindy Shield broke down some of the high-profile people in the pro-Keystone ads.
“Ranging from former presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, public figures including Warren Buffett and editorial boards such as the Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and USA Today,” she said.
Shield said the campaign is a continuation of their ongoing message that America needs Keystone.
“Encourage support and maintain support and let the president know the importance of this project to consumers, what it means for energy security, national security, so it’s consistent with the efforts we’ve been making in our grass roots and outreach all along,” she said.
Shield is also confident the project can meet the challenge issued by the president, that its development not increase the net emissions of greenhouse gases.
