Organizers of the 23rd annual Alberta International Air Show are expecting huge crowds and hot weather to greet spectators at the Lethbridge International Airport this weekend.
As for the show itself, Air Show President Brent Botfield tells 660News that fans can expect to see something a bit different this year.
“We’ve got a hundred per cent Canadian show this year actually,” says Botfield. “With all the cutbacks in the U.S. and stuff with the military, we’ve gone and got extra, other acts I guess from other parts of Canada, things we’ve never seen before.”
As a result, you’ll see a number of novelty acts this year, as well as the standards including the Snowbirds, the Sky Hawks Parachute team, CF-18 Hornet Devil team and ground displays.
The gates to the air show in Lethbridge open at 9 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday with a pancake breakfast. The show itself, which Botfield says is pretty well the same both days, starts at noon.
If you’re thinking of making a weekend of it in Lethbridge, Botfield notes that the city’s hotels and motels often fill up quickly for the event.
