Christian international relief organization Samaritan’s Purse has already deployed a disaster assistance response team (DART) to the Philippines, including clean water and nutrition experts.
Jeff Adams with the organization tells 660News on Saturday, they will be arranging for a helicopter to fly over and assess the damage, then plan what to do next.
He says, “The greatest needs are for food and water and shelter and medical. And so time and time again, that’s where we have to put our resources. The most efficient and fastest way to do that is to take donations from Canadians in Canada and then purchase those items as close as possible to the disaster site.”
On Monday, volunteers will assemble 6,000 hygiene kits, including soap, shampoo and toothbrushes and other items, to rush to typhoon evacuees.
