Red Deer man ticketed for watching The Lone Ranger while driving

A 42-year-old Red Deer man has been ticketed for watching the movie The Lone Ranger while driving on an Alberta highway.

The Airdrie Integrated Traffic Unit pulled the man over on QE-II near Carstairs Wednesday evening.

“He didn’t really say why he was watching the movie but I think it’s just one of those things that he wanted to pass the time while he was driving,” said Sheriff Jason Graw.

He said the important thing is that no one was hurt.

“It’s obviously very concerning behavior to us. Even a momentary lapse in attention can result in a very serious injury.”

The fine for distracted driving in Alberta is $172.
