Cochrane hosts 4th Annual Kimmet Cup

A tournament of classic Canadian hockey is underway in Cochrane.
Fifty teams are competing in the 4th Annual Kimmet Cup Pond Hockey Tournament, raising money for The Children’s Wish Foundation.
There are three divisions of competition: a highly-competitive one which often sees ex-pros competes, a recreational division where it’s still competitive but not as intense as division one, and division three is all fun and no score where many family teams participate.
This year’s fundraising goal is $100,000–the equivalent of 10 wishes for The Children’s Wish Foundation.
Organizer Reid Kimmet says other than the registration fees; they are fundraising online and through an awesome raffle draw.
“The grand prize is a trip to see any sporting event you’d like in North America, or concert,” explains Kimmet. “It’s round-trip airfare for two and two nights’ accommodation for two people.”
He adds spectators are welcome.
“It’s a great atmosphere to come and get to know a lot of people in your community, get to be a part of something greater than just yourself.”
