As of 4 p.m. Friday, anyone wanting to find out just how many Alberta government workers make over $100,000, can Google it.
The so-called “Sunshine List” promised by Premier Alison Redford in 2013, have been posted online and can be found here.
Don Scott, Associate Minister of Accountability, Transparency and Transformation, said this sets the standard for every other jurisdiction in Canada to follow.
“We go further than other jurisdictions, especially with the fact that we are posting contracts and severance agreements on our website and also our frequency of disclosure is twice a year. That’s also an improvement to what other jurisdictions are doing,” said Scott.
About 3,000 names and salaries have been posted in total.
The announcement Friday was delayed to allow for judge-ordered exceptions to not include the information of crown prosecutors.
